It’s Picture Book Month!

Here’s a snippet from the official website:

Picture Book Month is an international initiative to designate November as Picture Book Month, encouraging everyone to celebrate literacy with picture books. Founder, Dianne de Las Casas (author & storyteller) storyconnection.net, and Co-Founders, Katie Davis (author/illustrator) katiedavis.com, Elizabeth O. Dulemba (author/illustrator) http://www.dulemba.com/, Tara Lazar (author) taralazar.wordpress.com, and Wendy Martin (author/illustrator) wendymartinillustration.com, are putting together their worldwide connections to make this happen.

These ladies have put together a treasure trove of information for picture book lovers, so please share their link. Also, don't forget about PiBoIdMo. I'm up to twenty-six ideas!

And in related news...

I went shopping yesterday:

One Little, Two Little, Three Little Pilgrims

Illustrations by Lynne Avril Cravath

One little, two little, three little Pilgrims
hunt for ducks, rabbits, and geese.

One little, two little, three little Wampanoag
gather nuts, berries, and squash.

Everybody has a job to do;
then it's time to celebrate!

10 Fat Turkeys by Tony Johnston
Illustrations by Rich Deas

GOBBLE GOBBLE WIBBLE WOBBLE

Count along with this funny rhyming
story about 10 silly turkey friends!

The First Thanksgiving by Kathryn Lynn Davis
A Lift-the-Flap Book

Nancy Davis recreates the excitement and wonder of the first Thanksgiving--how the pilgrims came to America and how the Native Americans taught them to plant and then joined them in a Thanksgiving feast. Parents can use the simple text and the bright, graphic illustrations of this lift-the-flap book to introduce a very young child to this holiday.

(This one is perfect for toddlers.)

Have a great weekend!
