Back to School in July

Remember my post about this year's back to school picture books? Here are three more to check out:

Peanut Butter and Homework Sandwiches
Written by Lisa Broadie Cook
Illustrations by Jack E. Davis

Martin MacGregor is having one rotten week! First, his substitute teacher, Mrs. Payne, gives out mountains of homework. And when Martin's dog literally eats his homework, little does he know it's only the beginning of his troubles. Martin's homework ends up in the washing machine, goes to kindergarten with his little sister, and blows onto the roof of the school. Martin just can't catch a break!

But with some creativity and a positive attitude, Martin finds his own way to turn homework into fun-and turn it in on time!

Next up...

Math is a weak area in today’s education, so this new title from Charlesbridge looks like a fun way to help students improve on a variety of concepts:

Eat Your Math Homework by Ann McCallum
Illustrations by Leeza Hernandez

This collection of yummy recipes and fun math facts is sure to tempt taste buds and make you hungry for more. Explore patterns in nature while you chomp on Fibonacci Stack Sticks. Amaze your friends with delicious Variable Pizza Pi! Wash down your geometry assignment with some Milk and Tangram Cookies.

And one more for your back to school needs...

Skippyjon Jones, Class Action
Written and Illustrated by Judy Schachner

Skippyjon Jones really wants to go to school. School is for dogs, his mama tells him. It's where they go to get trained. But nothing can stop Skippy-once inside his closet, he finds himself on the playground of his imagination, surrounded by dogs of all kinds. He bays with the beagles, learns French with the poodles, and checks out a Chihuahua book from the library. And when a bully starts sending shiver-itos down the spines of the little yippers, Skippy saves the day and earns the biggest gold star.
